Did you know that every five minutes, someone in Canada dies from heart disease, stroke and vascular cognitive impairment?

More than 3.5 million people in Canada are living with these conditions, and as our population ages and more younger people are being diagnosed, the urgency to beat heart disease and stroke grows.

Your support will fund life-saving research across Canada that will help people who are currently living with the effects of heart disease and stroke and help better the outcomes for those who will be diagnosed with these conditions this year.

Together, we will make every beat count!

Team Spotlight

Keung To Canada Fan Club

Last year, Keung To Canada Fan Club organized walks across Canada on Keung To’s birthday to raise funds for the Ride for Heart. More than 200 participants walked in 1.5-Kilometre events from coast to coast, in person and virtually, with their friends and families. The team raised an amazing $61,748 to support Heart & Stroke.

The team dedicated their Ride for Heart efforts to their beloved idol, Keung To, an iconic member of a top-rated boy band in Hong Kong, who turned 24 on the day of their walks. These passionate members wanted to exemplify Keung To’s kind heart and authenticity and support Heart & Stroke’s life-changing research in heart and brain health. Keung To’s father has been touched by a related condition, and they know that this is a cause that touches many, so the team wanted to spread love and kindness throughout their communities.

Through the team’s love for Keung To, Keung To Canada Fan Club were thankful to participate in the Ride for Heart as it gave them the opportunity to get active, come together as a community and support Heart & Stroke to make every beat count.

  • How can I track my kilometres?

There are two ways to track your kilometres.  You can input your kilometres manually or you can set-up a Strava connection.

You can pick which way works best for you or do a combination of both – either way you choose your kilometres will be reflected in your participant centre.

  • What is Strava?

Strava is an app that is available for PC, IOS and Android devices that amalgamates fitness data in one place from a number of devices.  Ride for Heart uses Strava to import your kilometre progress directly to your Kilometre Challenge.  Using Strava to track your kilometres is optional and you can also input your progress manually following these steps.

  • How do I connect my fitness device to Strava

A number of fitness watches, as well as android and ios phones can be used with Strava to record kilometres towards your activity challenge.  For more information on how to connect and use each device, visit the Strava help centre here.

  • What activities in Strava count towards my Kilometre Challenge?

Once you connect Strava to your Ride for Heart participation centre, any activity recorded in Strava under the headings “Ride”, “Walk”, or “Run”, will automatically be counted against your Kilometre Challenge.

  • What kind of activities can I do if I don’t want to ride, walk or run?

You can choose to participate how you want to participate, with the activity, the distance and/or time of your choice during the month of June. Whether it’s riding a bike, walking or participating in something else active, physical activity reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke.
